Quality takes priority over quantity:
When it comes to practice in writing a piece of writing, the quality of your job is more
important than the duration of your job; always learn how to do the job completely and
correctly, then attempt to do it more efficiently and quickly. After all, you have to first
learn what the dance moves are, then have those moves adjusted to the music; you cannot do the
both right from the start.
-
Work out on each part separately:
In order to be a faster planner, a more competent writer and a more sensitive editor, you have
to work on each part separately; do not work on all at once unless you have worked on each well
enough one by one. Even for your writing experience, if you are a slow writer, try to write a
few paragraphs, for instance, introductory paragraphs, to quicken your pace of writing, then do
the same for the other paragraphs.
-
Do not be idealistic; just stick to your plan:
While you write your essay, you should not go over the notes, which you have worked out in the
planning time, to change them; you might come up with a more exciting and brighter idea in the
time of writing your essay, but keep in mind that the changed notes might not always sit
perfectly well with other parts or ideas of your writing. Even if you wish to make some other
changes to other parts, these changes will make it doubly difficult for you to manage your time.
-
Try to fixate the procedure:
Having recognized also practiced how to map out your plan, how to write an interesting
introduction with persuasive central paragraphs and a logical conclusion, you have to benefit
from the knowledge learned from your experience. Try not to vary the style of your writing every
time, by putting to use some other alternative word choices or starting and ending each
paragraph differently each time. This way you will be better able to make the most of your time
and practice.
-
Focus on time limitation of each task as well as the entire section:
Although the real test is originally designed in a way that candidates start from the task one
and after the “Minute 20” move on to the second task, you are recommended starting from the task
two, if and only if you have a problem with time-management. And this is for the reason that the
second task carries a higher score compared to the task one. If you run short of time, it might
less affect your score. In addition, keep in mind you have to ultimately practice writing both
tasks within one hour. Writing each task one by one without considering the limited time is
totally different from the experience of writing both tasks together within one hour limited
time.
-
Never stop practicing:
This strategy corresponds broadly with the experience curve. It says to perform efficient
time-management, you need to practice, practice, and practice; the more you practice one part, -
now it can be the planning, writing or proofreading- the more easily and faster you accomplish
it. Now in preparation for your practice in writing, print the real exam answer sheets of your
IELTS writing tasks.
