2. Use the apostrophe together with “s” to add another noun to
your first noun, but if your first noun was plural and ended with
“S”, add it without any “s”.
Example: All I need is a week’s break.
Example: All I need is two weeks’ break.
Parentheses (())
1. Use parentheses to make a list of the numbers or letters.
Example: to write a good piece of writing, you need the following
things: (1) a knowledge of grammar, (2) a knowledge of
vocabulary, (3) a knowledge of developmental structures.
2. Use parentheses to write translations.
Example: he said adeus (goodbye) to his friends.
3. Use parentheses to introduce an abbreviation or in reverse.
Example: he was CEO (chief executive officer) of the company.
Example: he was chief executive officer (CEO) of the company.
